Srinagar, Mar 19 (KNO): With a major boost to higher education in Kupwara, administration gave its nod for the establishment of a nursing college at Kashmir University's satellite campus in Kupwara.
The decision, according to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), was taken during the University's academic council meeting, marking a significant step in expanding professional education opportunities in the region.
Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the chief minister, in a post on X, thanked Professor Neelofar Khan, Kashmir University Vice Chancellor and Professor Peerzada Sharifdin, Dean Academic Affairs, for considering his request.
Welcoming the decision, CM's advisor said that this milestone would open doors for professional education in Kupwara and he expressed hope for the introduction of more courses, such as pharmacy, in the near future.
The demand for a nursing college in Kupwara was raised by the civil society forum Kupwara, highlighting the need for accessible paramedical and nursing education in the district. Many aspiring students in the region face difficulties in affording such courses outside the district—(KNO)
